We’d like to invite you to participate in a facilitated employer discussion – led by the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC) – taking place on March 24, 2026, focused on better aligning newcomer employment and settlement services with the real needs of employers. Settlement and employment agencies across the region are actively rethinking how their programs prepare newcomers for today’s labour market. What’s often missing in that conversation is direct, practical input from employers, especially small and medium-sized businesses.
This session will bring employers together with approximately 40 settlement agency representatives for a focused and candid discussion on:
- the skills, attributes, and experience employers are looking for,
- notable gaps in candidate skillsets and profiles, and
- what would make employment services more useful and relevant from an employer’s perspective.
Your participation would help ensure these programs are grounded in on-the-ground business realities. We’d value having SME voices at the table.
If you’re interested in participating or would like more information about the session format and time commitment, please contact Iman Annab, VP Programs and Operations (interim) at iannab@triec.ca.
