PRESS RELEASE
Niagara Falls, ON – March 12, 2020
For Immediate Release
State of the City Address in Niagara Falls to be rescheduled
Out of an abundance of caution, and with the understanding that large gatherings of people indoors at this time could contribute to the potential spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), plans to host Mayor Diodati’s State of the City Address will temporarily pause.
The decision to suspend the event at this time was made in consultation with the Chamber of Commerce Niagara Falls Canada taking in to consideration the latest information from the Public Health Department, other levels of government and a commitment to the public to make appropriate choices to protect the health of members of our community.
“Though the latest messaging from the World Health Organization is measured but precautionary, we are committed to doing our part to containing the virus. It no longer seems appropriate to go ahead with plans for an event with large numbers of people in attendance.” —Mayor Jim Diodati Organizers will continue to monitor the appropriate medical advice and the direction of Niagara Regional Public Health for our City, and to encourage members of our community to take reasonable precautions and avoid unnecessary risk.
Planning for the event will resume and a re-scheduled date will be announced as soon as the time is appropriate.
Information for attendees and ticket-holders:
- For attendees who have purchased tickets, your Eventbright ticket will be held for you for the future event date.
- Once a rescheduled date is announced, if alternate arrangements need to be made, they can be accommodated at that time.
- Thank you for your understanding and commitment to the health of yourself, others and our community.
