Niagara Parks & City of Niagara Falls Announce Holiday Road Closures

Niagara Falls, ON —  Niagara Parks, in partnership with the City of Niagara Falls, will implement planned road closures in key tourism areas near the Falls during major holiday weekends and select dates during peak periods of visitation.

The temporary closures are designed to reduce vehicle traffic and create additional space for pedestrians, helping ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

On the dates listed below, the Niagara Parkway, between Clifton Hill and Fraser Hill, will close to all vehicular traffic beginning at 7 p.m., with a full closure in place by 8 p.m. On selected dates (noted below with an asterisk), Clifton Hill, from Victoria Avenue to Falls Avenue, will also be closed to vehicular traffic. Roads are expected to reopen by 1 a.m. following the nightly fireworks.

    *Indicates closure of both Niagara Parkway (between Clifton Hill and Fraser Hill) and Clifton Hill (from Victoria Avenue to Falls Avenue).

    All closures are implemented at the discretion of police and may be adjusted, modified or cancelled in response to weather conditions or visitation levels. By closing these roadways to vehicles, pedestrians can move more safely and efficiently throughout the core tourism area during periods of increased visitation. The closures also support the Niagara Parks Police Service and Niagara Regional Police Service in managing traffic while maintaining controlled access for emergency services.

Canada Celebrates the FIFA World Cup 2026™

In addition to scheduled holiday closures, Niagara Parks will be a highlighted Canada Celebrates route stop, taking place at Queen Victoria Park on Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19 from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. This two-day event marks one of the final celebrations on the cross-country program, spanning 38 stops across 34 communities nationwide. During this two-day event, the Queen Victoria Park event field will come alive with enhanced programming that will bring together locals and visitors for a memorable experience at one of Canada’s most recognizable landmarks.

Peak attendance during this event may require temporary traffic measures or road closures at the discretion of the Niagara Parks Police Service and Niagara Regional Police.

Parking and Transportation

All Niagara Parks operations, including parking lots and WEGO bus services, will run as usual throughout each long weekend. The Falls Incline Railway will operate until 1 a.m. to help guests travel between Queen Victoria Park and surrounding tourism areas. Guests should anticipate potential service delays or disruptions on routes through the tourist area.

The WEGO Bus Service offers a hop-on, hop-off transportation system that connects Niagara Parks locations with nearby hotels and other tourism areas. To view WEGO schedules, visit niagaraparks.com/wego.
