May 5, 2025 Welland, ON – The City of Welland is bringing another summer of unforgettable live music to the community with the highly anticipated 2025 Concerts on the Canal series. Featuring an impressive mix of local talent and crowd-pleasing headliners, the free concert series now carries the distinction of being recognized as one of the Top 100 Festivals and Events in Ontario by Festivals and Events Ontario (FEO) for its 2024 season. This year’s series builds on that award-winning momentum with six performances at the Merritt Park Amphitheatre. From classic rock to soulful folk, energetic pop to powerful tribute acts, the diverse lineup ensures there’s something for everyone. The City is proud to showcase a concert schedule that celebrates music, spans genre, and reflects Welland’s welcoming identity. · Friday, June 6 – special guest DJ Dave Stiles, opener Joe Lapinski, and headliner The Smoothies · Tuesday, July 1 – opener Jonesy, headliner Figure Four, and special guests Amanda Lyn Parker and Mage · Friday, July 11 – opener Sleepy Jean, headliner Terra Lightfoot, 2025 Juno nominee · Friday, July 25 – opener Permilla, headliner Mystic Highway, a CCR tribute band · Friday, August 22 – opener Billy Rogers, headliner Hungry Hearts Band, a Bruce Springsteen tribute band · Friday, September 5 – opener The Handsome Devils, headliner The Bucking Broncos “This series has become a summer tradition that brings our community together in the heart of the city,” said Aaron Berger, Concerts on the Canal coordinator. “With an award-winning 2024 season behind us, we’re thrilled to build on that success with a lineup that reflects the vibrancy of our community. There’s something for everyone.” Aligning with the City’s 2023-2026 Strategic Plan, the series is a shining example of the Livability priority—creating accessible and inclusive community spaces, encouraging cultural participation, and building a sense of belonging through shared experiences. All performances begin at 7 p.m., and admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, a non-perishable food donation for the Community Food Drive, and their best summer energy.
