The Niagara Region is inviting residents, businesses, and community stakeholders to help shape the future of transportation across Niagara through the Niagara Region Transportation Plan 2051. As part of this long-term planning initiative, the Region has launched its Notice of Study Commencement and is encouraging public participation through upcoming Public Information Centre sessions this June.
This plan will update the Region’s existing Transportation Master Plan (TMP) that was approved in 2017. The new TMP will extend that vision to 2051 and beyond, focusing on the Region’s long-term transportation needs and outlining the necessary infrastructure and service requirements to accommodate our projected growth. It will act as a long-term guide to help improve the Region’s transportation system, making sure it is safe, affordable, accessible, efficient, sustainable, and ready for growth.
As we begin the study, we are hosting two in-person Public Information Centres (PICs) in June to present an overview and gather initial public feedback:
St. Catharines: Tuesday, June 9th, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre – Meridian Room (240 St. Paul Street West).
Welland: Wednesday, June 10th, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Welland Community Centre – Activity Room (145 Lincoln Street).
Public participation is a vital part of this project. Residents, business owners, and interested parties across all local municipalities are encouraged to attend these sessions, visit the project webpage, or submit comments directly to the team. For those unable to attend in person, the PIC materials will be posted on the project webpage starting June 9th, 2026, for public review. We would appreciate receiving any comments or feedback on these materials by June 30, 2026.
