City of Welland launches new app to put City services at residents’ fingertips

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 24, 2026

Welland, ON – The City of Welland has launched a new mobile app designed to provide residents with convenient, centralized access to City services, information, and updates.

Developed as part of the City’s ongoing commitment to modernize service delivery, the app responds to growing expectations for mobile-first, on-demand access. It brings together a wide range of tools and resources into a single, easy-to-use platform available anytime and anywhere.

The City of Welland app supports a more modern approach to service delivery, aligning with how people interact with municipal services in their daily lives while improving accessibility, efficiency, and engagement.

“The app is all about making it easier for people to stay connected with their city,” said Marc MacDonald, chief communications & engagement officer. “It complements existing platforms, such as the City’s website, by offering another convenient option for residents to receive updates, access information, and engage with City services, and reflects a growing expectation for mobile-friendly, on-demand access to municipal information and services.”

Through the app, residents can stay up to date with City news and updates, browse community events, and access Council agendas and minutes. It also provides convenient access to recreation program registration, along with information about parks, trails, and City facilities.

Users can also search building permits through CityView, find parking information, explore employment opportunities, and access a range of City forms and applications, all from a single platform.

The app includes a notification system to share timely updates about service disruptions, important community information, and other relevant alerts, with notifications used selectively to ensure they remain meaningful and valuable to users. Residents can also provide feedback directly through the app, helping the City continue to improve and refine the user experience.

By bringing services together in one place, the app simplifies how residents interact with the City. It reduces the need to navigate multiple websites or visit facilities in person, while providing real-time updates and increasing awareness of programs, services, and community opportunities.

The launch of the app supports key priorities within the City’s Strategic Plan, particularly Economic Growth and Livability. By improving how residents connect with services and supporting greater civic engagement, the app contributes to a more accessible and connected community.

The City of Welland app is available for download through the Apple App Store and Google Play.
