Temporary Road Closures Planned for Niagara Falls Barrelman Triathlon

• Niagara Parks welcomes 800 athletes competing in the annual Niagara Falls Barrelman Triathlon
• Temporary road closures will be in place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 20

To ensure the safety of both competitors and the public, temporary road closures will be in place.

Traffic Considerations

From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• There will be a full closure of the Niagara Parkway from Upper Rapids Boulevard, south to Macklem Street.
• There will be a single curbside lane closure of the southbound Niagara Parkway from Burning Springs Hill to Upper Rapids Boulevard.
• Access to Dufferin Islands, including access via Burning Springs Hill at Portage Road, will be closed to all vehicular traffic that day. However, the interior walking trails and pedestrian bridges at Dufferin Islands will remain open to pedestrians.

From 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

• The Niagara Parkway will also be fully closed from Bridgewater Street in Niagara Falls to Townline Road in Fort Erie. The road will begin to reopen after the last participant passes, by 1:30 p.m. at the latest.
• Bridgewater Street will be closed to the public to facilitate the event, with access provided for residents. Full access will resume after the last participant passes, by 1:30 p.m. at the latest.

Additional Information

• Residents of Rapids View Drive and Bukator Drive will be provided access during the closure with the assistance of the Niagara Parks Police Service.
• Visitors wishing to access Dufferin Islands during the road closures may park at the Floral Showhouse parking lot and walk to the site.
• Additionally, the WEGO bus service, Niagara Parks’ Table Rock Centre, Floral Showhouse, Falls Parking Lot and Fraser Hill overflow parking will all remain open and accessible to visitors.

Additional road closures within the City of Niagara Falls may be in effect to support this event, causing delays. For updates, please visit niagarafalls.ca.
