Sector-Specific Business Guidelines
As the province reopens, Niagara’s Section 22 order remains in place. These measures help to keep our community safe and ensure Niagara can move through Ontario’s reopening steps.
As part of Ontario’s reopening plan:
- Bars and restaurants can remain open longer than 9 p.m.
- Find details about the number of people allowed
- Learn about the requirements for recording information of all patrons
- In Niagara, diners at one table must be from the same household. There are exceptions for people who are essential to the physical and mental health of the individual, such as caregivers.
Research shows that in-person dining is risky as it involves close interaction over a long time without masks. This risk is inherent in the activity and of no fault of owners or operators. In 2020, after Niagara put this measure in place, we saw a sharp reduction in infections related to public dining.
